I have been wanting to do a series of posts on work holding for a while now, but just never got around to it. Work holding fascinates me, from something as simple as a screw as a bench stop, to bench dogs, to the whole complex system that is a complete, well designed bench. The other item I have been putting off for a year is building my new Roubo bench. The Douglas Fir has been seasoning in the shop since July 2015 and other projects just kept getting in the way.
Then I heard about The Dusty Life Bench Build-Off, and decided it was time to jump in and get things done! Time Warp Tool Works is one of the sponsors of the Build-Off, providing a Dog Hole Kit as a prize ($129) which I of course will not be eligible for (or any other prize), but I thought this was a great opportunity to get going on my bench. I will be working on at least getting my legs and stretchers assembled and the top mounted which is about as much as I think can be accomplished in two weeks. I am hoping to do a few blogs along the way to let you know how I am doing.
So if you have been holding off on that bench build this might be the time to jump in! Lots of great prizes to be won! Prizes are going to be awarded randomly, whatever that means 🙂
Good Luck and have some fun!
